Follow Your Dreams

Earlier I never used a diary but of late it has become one of the things i cannot live without. At the start of the year I got a diary from my dear friend Chandrika but I knew that teh cover will come off if i dont do something as i use it so often. It is where i srite about my appointments, Work to do, craft challenges, wins my study plans. Oh it is full of stuff that i want. So i thought of giving it a new look.Below is a picture of the diary before a new look was given.

I took some orange card stock and cut it to size and pasted so that it can handle all teh turning and flipping.

this picture shows after the orange card stock was pasted. I didnt want to use white as i know that it will get dirty in no time due to the dusty conditions in Sri Lanka. Then a patten paper was pasted to cover 3/4 of the cover. The pattern paper had small flowers i highlighted some of them with a gold color glitter pen.

Next i stamped the sentiment Follow Your Dreams in dark blue. I hope you can see it in the pictures. My diary is all about foolwing my dreams. That is the eason i stamped that sentiment. On teh left side of the sentment i pasted an orange and black color butterfly cut out from a pattern paper. I always related butteflflies with dreams.

On the bottom left too i pasted a pink color butterfly and finished off my diary cover. I like the look of it and thank God i dont have to worry about teh cover coming off. Ha ha

Stationery Set

I cut this circle image with blooms and butterflies from a magazine page and pasted it onto a scolloped bloom cut in white card stock. This was pasted  on to the paper cupboard and the pattern paper Storage unit so that they become a set.

On top of the cupboard is the picture pasted on a flower die cut. This picture was cut from a magazine.

I hope you can see the image on the pattern paper storage unit.

I wanted to create a stationery set as i didnt have a place to keep my Card stock or the pattern paper I have. The orignial idea is from Dr Sonia My Craft Guru.https://cardsandschoolprojects.blogspot.com/search?q=paper+storage  She is a talented crafter and  she has given a great explanation with a lot lof lovely pictures.Thank You my Guru.

The cupboard was made by pasting three boxes of the same size together. Then made a cover for it by cutting a piece of cardboard to cover all the boxes.

As you can see my cupboard has three shelfs. If you like you can increase the number of shelfs by adding boxes of the same size. Here I dont have any measurements to show as i just pasted three similar size boxes together. After covering it with pattern pattern paper fixed two magnets on either side , ie one on the door and the other on the side and connected them with a hair tie.You can see the lose hair tie and the two magnets below.

This is the front of the box                This is the side of the box which shows a magnet.

Once the frame work was in place  decorated it using puffy stickers, flowers made with paper and plastic, some packaging used to cover apples and magazine covers.

Took a white scolloped blooms  die cut and pasted a magazine cover by cutting a circle and pasting it in the middle of the white die cut. I made two of these and pasted one on top of the cupboard and the other on the pattern paper storage unit.

As i wanted to create a garden theme for the storage unit i cut a green color pattern paper and pasted at the bottom. For the cupboard  took a apple case and cut it in two and pasted it like a fence. I hope you can see it clearly in the third picture.  I pasted the flowers behind the fence. As it is a set i ensured that there was similarity but not much. Then decorated using flowers and leaves as well as puffy stickers with lady birds caterpillars birds and butterflies.
It can hold my card stock, envelopes and scraps. I am planning to keep the envelopes on top, card stock on the second and the third will hold scraps. I am organizing the card scraps at present. Once I figure out the best option will share with all of you my friends.
I didnt spend more than Rs 60 to make it. It was spent to buy the two pattern paper sheets to cover the units. Everything else was from my stash.Stationery set  Happy crafting

Single layer Dutchfold card

Single layer Dutch fold card
I never knew how to create a Single layer Dutch Fold card and looked up and learnt it. first I made the block. I feel comfortable to have a block and the measurements are 8*7 1/8. scored it at 6 and 2 on the 8 inch side and scored at 2 3/8 on the other side.
This is the block of the single layer Dutch fold card

Using the block i cut a base using green cardstock. Then i cut panels using blue denim card stock.
I then stamped butterfly images on the two bottom panels using an orange  ink pad.
For the left of the top panel I stamped the image welldone on red ink. for the right of the top panel i stamped a rose using a clear stamp and colored it using Coleen Watercolor pencils.

To show the edges of the petals clearly i outlined using a gold gel pen. I attached a die cut leaf as no rose is complete without a flower. The butterfly on top of the rose was stamped using a clear stamp in a blue. To attach the butterfly to the rose giving dimension I cut a match stick and glued it along the middle of the butterfly and that was glued to the card.
These are the clear stamps i used. Here are some of the ink pads.

On top of the sentiment on the left i attached a diamond as this is a well done card.

I decorated the card using orange and black color and pink color butterflies  cut from a patterned paper. They were attached to the card using match sticks. On the middle is a sticker. The bottom has a puffy lady bug sticker. Empty spaces were stamped using tiny flower and ladybug stamps.
I left empty spaces in the inside of the bottom panels so that i could write something if i wish to.

I. am Happy

Dear Crafty Friends
Sorry for not being on blogger for awhile. I built my blog using my office account and once i left office i couldn't log in. Aftermonths of trying I deleted my blog and wanted to start fresh but everyday it got postponed. Finally today i decided that I am going to do it not tomorrow but today.
I started as a crafter making little stuff sometime back but other commitments always made it take a back seat. I can craft for hours at a stretch but now I don't have that luxury as i am working as a freelance Journalist. Now i take on one project complete it little by little until the end. This helps me to think about it and do a perfect job.
My crafting Guru is none other than talented Dr Sonia S.V. you can view her blog at  https://cardsandschoolprojects.blogspot.com/. She is a talented crafter and an amazing human being. I wish to see her in person someday. I love her so much. Thank You Dr Sonia.
All other crafters out there around the globe thank you so much for teaching me through your cards and projects.
I am a thrifty crafter and will try everything to save the pennies as i sure know the value of money. I buy stuff mainly important tools and dies as well as paper and embellishments but never make hasty decisions. If i want to buy something i first check my list as to what is the most important for me. Then i check all the places it is available and compare the prices and the quality and make the decision.
Posts on this blog will explain how to save the pennies and also each and every mistake I make and how i learn from them. Also i am planning to have a post on all the shops and online stores crafters in Sri Lanka can buy their stuff.
In addition I am also planning on having a post on my crafty space as i recently did a overhaul of the entire room but since i am mobile these days between Sri Lanka and New Zealand some of my stuff is at my daughters in New Zealand and some are in Sri Lanka. When i start a project i realise that some of the stuff i need are thousands of miles away. Ha ha. This is me. Anyway that doesnt stop me from doing it. I find an alternative.

This is the flower vase i made for the new year to adorn my room which is also my crafty space and writing den all in one.
I had some flowers which i did last year using glitter foam sheets but alas i didnt have floral wire for the stems. in one of Dr Sonias projects she says that empty pen refills can be used. I tried and wow it worked. You can even use straws. Then i used some green glitter foam pieces to make the leaves. The bottle which i used as the vase was an old one and as i liked the shape i kept and i decorated it using left over crystals and butterflies cut from a pattern paper. I wanted tos how that the butterflies were perched therefore underneath i used pieces of matches to stick them to the bottle. I attached them using a glue gun. what do you think of my project.
