Splash it

 A very good afternoon friends

I took a white card base and stamped the waves in two colours. Then I took my Colleen water colour pencils and  touched and spread the colour using my finger. Then I stamped the hippo to look like he was floating and coloured him gray using the watercolour pencil. I stamped the sentiment Make a splash using one shade of the blue I used for making the waves. The colour pencils colour well but sharpening them is a nightmare but I have to be satisfied as those are the affordable water colour pencils in Sri Lanka.

Roses are red

 Good Afternoon friends

I started to make two cards using the water technique shown by Natasha Foote but alas it didnt work as the craft cardstock I have does not absorb the water. So instead I decided to make this simple card. I took the card base and masked a border using low tac tape available in Sri Lanka. Then I used the colour rouge from AlteNew and ink blended the background using a finger dauber. Then I took my Misti tool and stamped the rose using Crimson from AlteNew and the sentiment using a craft ink pad. The Happy Birthday Stamp is new. As I didnt have a large Happy Birthday stamp I bought it receently. I added some red colour gems to add the bling into the card.

The items I used

Low tac tape

Gift tag using scraps

 Good Morning friends

Recently I made a card using a cardboard stencil made by me using a butterfly die. Here it is.

When adhering it to a cardbase a piece was left and today I was arranging my desk and came across it so I punched a hole and attached a gold color thing which came to me in a package and voila I had the tag. I need quite a few of them as I am a journalist working online and as I am a book person I write down everything.

Crafting is my passion and love and while Journalism is my bread and butter, I get up early in the morning and finish my journalism work and start crafting. Oh it gives me a world of happiness and each one of you has contributed to that happiness. Love you from the bottom of my heart.

My discovery

 Good Morning friends

I was fascinated by the amazing crafters who do wonders with embossing and wanted to try it out. One of my friends gave me an embossing tool but alas it didnt work so I ordered an embossing tool as well as black and gold embossing powder and tried it on sentiments it did not give the desired results. I was determined and tried it again it was a total chaos. Then I thought I should change the paper and for me fortunately I had some card stock I got from USA  and some embossing powders given to me by afriend of mine when I was in New Zealand. I do not have a antistatic powder bag but a DIY I did following instructions on the net. I used that and prepped my card and using the Versamark Ink pad given by my Friend in Newzealand I tried and I was amazed with the results. Here it is

I added a sentiment and two gems to complete the card

Then I tried using the same cardstock but with the embossing powder i purchased from a local craft store and there were places the embossing powder had not got attached but the result was ok.

Then I came to the conclusion that I cannot use the cardstock available locally for techniques.

Below is the result using local cardstock and embossing powder.

card Now I have to find a cardstock and as my travel is limited I cannot do it immediately. I will also check with the local craft store and find asolution. I am sharing it so that a newbee like me wont make the same mistake.

Red and pink hearts

 Good evening friends

I am dedicating this card to my precious little grand daughter Rashida as she loves to draw hearts and calls them love hearts. Be it any occasion she will give a card with hearts.

I took a piece of pink card stock and adhered a red coloured paper with tiny little hearts. Then I attached the pink die cut which has hearts. It was attached to the card using foam squares. [I recently purchased foam squares and normally all my stuff have a designated place and I can remember keeping it there but I cannot find it. Now I have to order foam squares again lol,  Getting down stuff is atedious process due to Covid-19. Has it happened to you? ] In the  middle  of the die cut I attached a pink heart and a red heart. The sentiment was fuzzy cut and added three small pink gems on either side of the sentiment to add the bling.

Round and Round

 Good afternoon friends

I used different circles to make this card. On the blue background I stamped pink circles using bubble wrap. This is the first time I tried and was satisfied though I couldnt get all circles as I desired. Then I used die cuts in the shape of circles and colored them in Pink and blue on the edges using my twin marker pens.I adhered the circles to the card background using foam squares. The heart at the centre was adhered using liquid glue. I buy the large glue bottle and pour it into two small bottles and use and I love the glue. Though it is cheap it does a really good job.  I die cut the love you die and adhered it using liquid glue.

DIY paper holder

Good evening friends

Today it is a different project. My card stock and speciality paper collection  was overflowing from my holder and that is when I decided to add another box. It was the box in which my computer came. The first box was cut at a slant decorated with pattern paper and a divider was added in the middle. I decorated the front to look like a garden using small roses and critters which my grand daughter had left. I love little critters and can never get over them. I wanted the box in the behind to look taller than the one in the front but could not as the height was different. I decorated the box in the behind with pattern paper which I had and used 3m Scotch mount to adhere the two boxes together. Then i arranged my card stock and speciality papers to my hearts content. It also holds pieces of cardboard which I need for projects. For me out of sight is out of mind.  My card stock collection is in a pile inside the box and I want to keep a separate index which will help me to know what I have and havent. That is for a later date. This is from me at the moment.

This is the paper holder before the papers were put inside.

Organisation

 Good afternoon friends

Now my crafty item collection is expanding and needs more organisation. I have decided that I am not going to buy anything expensive for organisation but I want to keep a neat and nice space. My embellishment collection was in an old puzzle tin of my grand daughter and it was overflowing. One day I went to Pettah and I saw some lovely pink containers and it was around one dollar. My craft space colours are pink and blue.

The container before labelling

I bought two and came home and i was regretting it. Again when i went i searched for the place and bought ten containers and they gave me one extra for free. I was planning on organisation but it was getting postponed. Yesterday I printed the labels and came and today while going through a file I found some labels too. Then I cut the labels and put cello tape and attached it to the containers. I attached two labels per container  ie on the top and front so that I dont have to open the containers and search for what I want. To keep each item separately I added small lids inside the container. They are washing liquid lids which I got from my friend Saumya. They fit perfectly inside the containers. I started the process but yet to finish. I should be done by tomorrow. Ihave labelled my embelisments by colour and it is very convenient Voila I am done.

A place for die cuts

I normally die cut everything at once and keep them in boxes. The boxes are empty cheese containers that my mum had collected.I painted some in pink and labelled them accordingly

Cheese container

The set of cheese containers I have.

Pattern paper collection
The large sheets are rolled and kept in a bin on the ground but most of my pattern papers are cut and kept by theme in a polythene bag. A Youtuber once said no poing hoarding just chop them to the size you want. Sorry I can't remember her name but I also chop them now.

The label on the front
Label on the top

The label on the side

The 12 tins sitting on my desk.

DIY paper holder
I took a box and cut it at a slant. I added a divider to separate it in the middle. Then i took pattern papers and decorated it.I also used stickers left by my grand daughter to decorate my paper holder My paper collection was overflowing so I added another box to the behind. It was my computer box packaging. Now it is neat and nice and I can reach for any papers quickly. Now I have to index the paper collection. That is for another day.

Clear stamps

Recently I have been buying clear stamps and I have a fair collection now. I separated it into themes but still It takes awhile to find a stamp. I took pink cardstock and made deviders. Now it is much easier to find my stamps.

DIY stencilling

 Good afternoon friends

I wanted to try out DIY stencilling as stencils are hard to come by and are expensive.

Method

I googled and it needed a tool called stencil cutter which is like a pen where you can cut. I searched everywhere in Sri Lanka but I could not determined I didnt give up and yesterday while waiting for the doctor i stumbled upon a YouTube channel Make Your Own Stencils from Rubbish by jennibellie where she shows that even cardboard can be used. Why didnt I think of it before? Anyway long and short of it today morning I pulled out my die cuts and found Butterflies. I drew it on cardboard but cutting out was taking time. So I took my Cuttlebug and the dies and cut out a background  of butterflies. Then using that I colored the background of this card and I am super happy with the results. Since it is a thin cardboard it will wear out soon. It is ok. It is only cardboard. I pasted it onto a card base and stamped the sentiment Happy Birthday on an angle and my card was done. I didnt put any bling as my friend likes it that way.

Materials used

Butterflies die set (unbranded)

Cardstock

Colleen water colour pencils

Black Ink

Tip use thick cardboard to save time

I outlined the squirrels using the brown from the Twin marker Pen set and also added pink to their lips and black to their eyes. I coloured the bodies in a shade of brown using Colleen water colour pencils. I added three white colour gems to add the bling to the card. I stamped a squirrel on the envelope too. Tips

I always take a rough sheet of paper and stamp before stamping on the cardstock which has helped me to save good cardstock.

If i cut foam tape or any sticky surface I clean the scissor though it is kept separate for cutting such stuff so that I dont harm my good scissors.

More Love

 Good afternoon ladies

Love is in the air and people are getting ready to celebrate Valentines Day so what better way to use the pattern paper to make a card to celebrate love and this is for my Daughter and her partner who will be celebrating too.

I took a heart ball pattern paper[ I think it is made in China] and pasted it to a white card base. Then I cut three layers of a heart and stacked it to give dimension. I attached it using foam squares. I found a pattern paper butter fly and cut another layer in old packaging to give dimension. Then attached it using a foam square. I attached two silver and red hearts to the heart using foam squares to add the bling. The sentiment Love You was stamped using a purple colour ink pad from Stamp It and it was a gift from a friend of mine.

Love with pattern paper

Good afternoon ladies

Love is in the air and though my Husband is in heaven I was in the mood to make a Valentine Day card. This is dedcated to my one and only grand daughter who is eight and loves hearts and she calls them love hearts. The patterned paper I used is locally bought and my main colour is pink I mixed two pattern papers. On the heart I stamped a heart in blue and on all the other circles i stamped small hearts. To add bling I attached three silver hearts and a pink bow in yarn. The sentiment was stamped in blue too. Sorry I do not have any Cats and Pajamas products to use.

Love You

 Good afternoon friends

This is the card I made for the Double D Challenge

This card is dedicated to my loving husband in heaven

I took a cream colour doilie and coloured the heart in light pink using colleen water colours. Then I took a piece of acetate and cut out a heart. [In our country double sided tape in small widths are not available.] So I cut the double sided tape to the width I wanted and covered the heart. I selected pink colour seed beads one red colour bead as that was all I had small hearts and a large heart in red. then i put all that inside and sealed the heart.Once I did all that I realised that i had done the wrong one. I made up my mind and did it again thinking practice makes perfect(lol). I learnt all these small tricks from Tracey Mcnealy Thank you Tracey. Her shaker cards and tags are beautiful. I wish I could have bought clear tape. I coloured the edge of the doilie in pink as well as the sentiment I love you. I used a twin marker pen by Hangli for colouring. To add the bling i added 3 white pearl hearts and it was done. During the process i organised some of my embellishments as well. More to go. I will write a separate post on that when I finish.

Winter Wishes

A very good afternoon to all of you

I made this card for the Merry Little Christmas Challenge. I stamped all the images I wanted using my Mini Misti. Then I fussy cut them and colored using the color pens and watercolor pencils I have. I took a piece of green cardstock and splattered white paint drops to depict snow. I have never seen snow. Then I applied white paint to the bottom of my card to look like snow. I couldnt apply evenly as the paint was not good and then i made my mind thinking the ground is not even either (Lol) Then I adhered my images using glue dots to give dimension.

"It' s a girls thing Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop/Challenge 2021

A very good afternoon to all of you

I first heard of Turner Syndrome three years ago and I am praying for all of you.

Turner Syndrome

It is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing all or part of her second X chromosome leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,000 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

I know that it can happen to anybody and pray that a cure is found soon.

My card

I made using
Card stock
Altenew Artist Marker starter set
Colleen watercolour pencils
A clear stamp set (unbranded)
Sequins and a butterfly
paper quilled flowers

The sentiment is what a beautiful blessing you are to me which i think explains it all  I colored the girl using Altenew starter market set Cotton candy R403 and for the hair I used Colleen water colour pencils brown colour. Reach for the stars possibilities are unlimited. The cat was coloured using grey color. I added the butterfly as it identifies Turner Syndrome and added sequins and three quilled flowers as embellishments.
