Butterflies

 Dear Friends

A very good afternoon.

Today I made two curtain fold cards

All the instructions were given by the host of Butterfly Challenge Dear Valerie Anne. I just followed her instructions. Thank You dear lady

I took a piece of 11.5*4 inch piece of butterfly patterned paper. on the left and right hand corner mark 1 inch. on the left hand side it should be from the bottom and right hand side it should be from the top. Join the two marks.  Then score at 1,2.5,3.25,4.75,5.75,7.25,8,9.5 and 10.25. Then cut along the line you drew. After than mountain fold and valley fold alternatively. turn to the other side and secure with double sided tape. Then i took a piece of pink color cardstock measuring 4*5 and attached the curtain fold patterned paper and decorated to my hearts content. A black gel pen was used to draw the tentacles of the butterflies.

On one card i attached a pink colour butterfly and a baby butterfly and a flower and attached carrot orange gemstones.

On  the other card I used a pink colour plastic butterfly with a glue dot and tied a bow using carrot orange jute thread. I also attached a carrot colored gem stone to hide the glue dot which was used to fix the bow.

I stamped the sentiments Happy Birthday and Congratulations to finish off the cards

Ribbon Holder

 Dear Friends

A very good morning.

My little ribbon collection was messy as it was in abox. So I decided to make a ribbon holder. I found a cardboard box and painted it blue to suit my colors of pink and blue. I rolled a piece of cardboard and made a knob too.  I found another piece of cardboard and folded it to fit my cardboard box. Then i cut two pieces of cardboard and pasted to the two sides. Rolled a piece of paper like a dowel and I painted everything blue. This is my completed ribbon holder. The box under the dowel too holds pieces of ribbon.

As I told before I have made a resolution to make all the containers I need using waste materials as boxes are too expensive and i can use that money buy some crafty goods.

The box

Pen Holder

 Dear Friends

A very good morning to you.

I had my pens, scissors, glue in different holders and it was taking some space. So I decided to make one holder that can fit all my supplies. I took a box and sealed one side and from the other side i cut it at a slant. Then I pasted a gift wrapping paper from a gift I had given my husband in 2010 or earlier. One of my holders hold colored gel pens, a long ruler.paint brushes  and my old pair of scissors. That holder was put at the back and i divided it so that my water spray bottle can go to the other side. The container that holds my most often used pens, scissors etc went to the small container which is a cardboard box which held an eaudeclogne bottle. The other side holds my small glue bottles. I made a small plate from cardboard and adhered to the front to hold erasers, safety pin [which i use as a pokey tool] as well as clips. I cut two yoghurt cups adhered wrapping paper and attached to the side. One holds rubber bands and the other holds binder clips. The best thing is I can take it anywhere if I want. Recently i went shopping and decided that all the boxes that i need will be made by me unless somebody gifts them to me as boxes are so expensive and sometimes I cannot get what i need.

Chaos

 Chaos

Good Morning dear friends

You must be wondering why I named the post as Chaos. I wanted to make some masculine cards. I used a black ink to stamp the sentiment and as it was light i colored with a marker and five minutes down the line the ink was in two spots of the card. I went to die cut a sentimnet and the measurement was wrong and i had to discard the card and mind you i didnnt have any more cardstock of that colour . Lol. what i did was i cut the card stock in two and saved the good piece. The other one i turned it to the other side and die cut the same sentiment about four times. Since it was masculine card I made a shirt and Tie and put a tie pin too but because of the ink bobbos I had to redo it again. Have you experienced such days. I will never forget yesterday as this was the first time I experienced such chaos. At the end of it I made four masculine cards and i have ordered some stamps and dies to make more masculine cards.

Here are my Masculine cards

21st Birthday

Dear Friends
A very good afternoon to you.
I made two Birthday cards for a girl who celebrated ber 21st Birthday on 18th August.
It was my first order. The mother wanted the cards to be in Pink.

I made one card with a key with a bow peeking out of a window and the card front had a tiny little pink dress with a pink baby rose and a small jewel and a handbag with a pink rose and a paper clip which i made following G.I Kerr. I attached the key, the dress and the handbag using glue dots so that if she wants she can keep them. Inside was decorated with a verse and three baloons in Pink, Purple and Blue.

The Other card had an intricate shoe and flowers all over, with a pink shimmery butterfly and  a Happy Birthday sentiment. I attached small jewels to the centers of the flowers . I used different shades of pink cardstock.I am not a good photographer and therefore you cannot see the images clearly but everybody appreciated and I have got more orders.

Thank you each and everyone of you ladies who have taught me everything. I am  so happy.

Pretty in Pink

Surekha GalagodaGood Morning Dear Friends
My Grand daughter's Birthday was on 1st August.
She wanted a pop up card in pink as her favourite color now is Pink.

Materials used
Pink cardstock
flower die
squirrels stamp
Colleen water Color pencils

Method
I folded a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4 *5 1/2  and kept it aside.  Then I took a piece of cardstock measuring 5 1/2*5 1/2 and scored it at 3/4,4 and 4 3/4. I learnt the method from Jennifer Mcguire. I decorated that using a image of Olaf as her birthday party was themed olaf. I stamped three squirrels using a stamp. I colored all three in brown and the mama carries a cake, the baby a love heart as my grand daughter loves love hearts and Dada a cup. After that I cut a flower shape in the  4 1/4 by 5 1/2 piece and made the Olaf peek through the window. To fit the inside piece to the card  the fold lind of the card and the inside pieces were put together and the left side was adhered to the card base and the card was closed and the right side was adhered to the card base on the other side. I die cut the words Happy Birthday using a die. This is my simple card I made for my one and only Grand daughters 8th Birthday. They are in New Zealand and post is not working from Sri Lanks so I only showed the card to her. I also did a count down for her Birthday using all little memories of her including the first Baby shirt she wore.

Crafty shops

Good Morning friends
Today's post is all about places i buy my crafty items for my cards and craft projects.Bear in mind some items are still not available in Sri Lanka while sometimes the stuff is not of good quality. I thought I would list the places I shop so that it will help crafty friends in Sri Lanka.

Craftstore Rambasevana
It is an online store and the service is excellent. They have a facebook page with individual albums.Pictures of all crafty products with the size and price is mentioned. The owner Ridma does a good job and ordering is easy.  Once you select the goods send  her a whatsapp or messenger message on 0719888664 and she will get back with the bill. Though I can pay once the goods are delivered I prefer to pay to the bank before delivery. For me it is convenient. She individually packs everything and puts them to a bag.You can even ask her how to use a product. The only short side is you cannot touch and feel the products you are buying. But believe me there is no difference between the picture you see and the stuff you get.

Sarasavi Bookshop
They also have a lot of crafty stuff and their staff are courteous and with a smile.I visit the Nugegoda and Dehiwela branches as it is closer to my home.

Best Paper
They have all kinds of paper and inks and recently they have become an agent of Sizzix and have the Big Shot machines as well as dies and embellishments. They are located at No 21 Pepiliyana Road Nugegoda.

Art World
They also store a variety of crafty goods and the shop is in Dehiwela Sri Lanka close to the bridge.34A, Galle Road Dehiwela North.

Penguin Toys
You can buy crafty goods from Penguins and it is very affordable. The shop is at 106, Prince Street  Pettah.

Lakwin enterprises
They also store a lot of crafty goods and I mostly buy cardstock from them as it is cheaper than other places. They are located at  No 53, Prince Street and now they import 6*6 and 12*12 pattern papers and it is very affordable. You get a courteous service too.

Overseas
I have got dies, colour pens and other stuff from Simon Says Stamp, AlteNew, Tutti Designs and Pink fresh Studio. They are of superior quality and they give you what they display on the page. The only downside is that shipping is very high.At the moment you cannot ship anything from them as postal services are not working.

Blessings
Surekha Galagoda

No Limit
I buy my pattern papers from them. They have the most beautiful pattern papers and the only downside is that they fold the papers to fit the rack.

I hope that this post will help crafty friends in Sri Lanka

Butterflies

Dear Friends
A very good afternoon to all of you.
I made an Accordian fold card for the Butterfly Challenge

Materials
Pattern paper
Cardstock
Score Pal
Butterflies for decoration

Method
According to the instructions given by lovely Valerie Anne  who hosts the Butterfly challenge following version one  I cut a piece of cardstock measuring 11.5 by 5.5 inches in Apricot colour. Then I scored the piece of caqrdstock at 3 3/4,61/4.8 3/4 and 10 1/8. After folding the card according to given instructions i decided to decorate. I didn't have any pattern paper with butterflies but that did not discourage me. I had a piece of pattern paper in Apple Blossom colour with small hearts and it was with a scalloped border. I fuzzy cut the scalloped border and kept it aside. Then i measured each panel and reduced a  1/4 inch from all sides and made templates. So that i wont make a mistake. After that I cut each template on my pattern paper and adhered to the relevant panel using liquid glue. To remove the bubbles which form i rolled my pencil on top of the pattern paper. The last panel was decorated using butterflies fuzzy cut from a left over piece of pattern paper. The butterflies on top were cut from a die that I have. I really wanted to take part in the challenge as Valerie Anne helps all of us by explaining the card shape and every other little detail. Thank you Dear Valerie Anne.

The card before decoration

The fourth panel with a row of patterned paper butterflies

Card after decoration. You can see a butterfly peeking through the fourth panel.
I am playing
Accordian style card, two pattern papers ie for the panels and the fourth panel decoration Colours Apple blossom, Apricot and Aquamarine[butterflies] and my butterflies

This is the second card I made following the version two
It is the same measurements and scoring but 2.5 inches was cut away from the first two panels and 2.5 inches was cut away from the third and fourth panels. I used a apple blossom pattern paper with butterflies  while the card stock was aquamarine and i die cut the butterflies in Apricot. The sentiment was stamped and fuzzy cut. Since the pattern paper was everything I didnt decorate it much oether than placing the butterflies.
